Anthea Jane Kempston was born in Leeds and started life as a dancer at the Delayne School of Dance.

She was trained in all aspects of the theatre at the Arts Educational School, Tring Park, and then continued her musical training at the Junior Royal Academy of Music, London. It was here that she met Ann Lampard, who inspired Anthea to pursue a career in the world of classical music.

Anthea spent 5 years at the Royal Northern College of Music, where she gained valuable performing experience. She graduated in 1999 with a Bachelor of Music (Honours) before continuing her studies with Ann Lampard in 2001.
